AAA Albequrque Isotopes (Marlins)
This game take us to Albuquerque to see the Isotopes at Isotopes Stadium.
Name origins
The fictional Springfield Isotopes from the long running TV series The Simpsons were the influence for the new name of the team. In the episode "Hungry Hungry Homer", Homer Simpson attempts to thwart the team's plan to move to Albuquerque.
After a 1.5 hour rain delay, they started to play ball as the light rain was still falling. Due to the time of night, we left in the 3rd inning and the Topes' went on to win the game by 1 run!

A Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets)
This is the game that never was. After picking up Stacy and meeting Meghann in Brooklyn, we showed up to a fog filled stadium. The fog never lifted and the game never started. I ate dinner at the stadium and watched midevil jousting (a ballpark promotion).

AA Chattanooga Lookouts (Reds)
Tonight we went up to TN to go to the Chattanooga Lookouts game. It was an exciting game, and a foul ball was hit out of the ballpark and onto the shoulder of the highway. A 1 mile run in the top of the second and hopping a few fences the foul ball was mine!
30 years no foul balls... 2 weeks 2 foul balls un-real
The Lookouts came up short vs the TN Smokies (AA Cubs) 10-4

A Clinton Lumber Kings (Rangers)
After seeing the Twins at the Metrodome and our trip to Charles Mound, IL, we found a local Minor League baseball team using to 2 very scientific principals. #1 Who was playing at home, and #2 how close were they to our current location?
The winner was The Clinton Iowa Lumber Kings. We showed up to the ballpark just in time for Jason Bay bobblehead night, and promptly took our seats right behind home plate. ($7 each) Seeing how this is A baseball (low budget) they literally hung a fisherman's net up to protect the crowd, and as a result we couldn't see most of the game. With the first 500 fans getting the free bobbleheads, there were 100 left over I'm sure, we moved to a better seat with a great view down by the 3rd base bag.
The Lumber Kings were playing the cross-field (corn) rivals the Cedar Rapid Kernels.
That was when it happened... I devised my plan to finally get a foul ball.
I figured a ball would hit the roof above my head and roll down toward the concourse, and when it hit the roof I would leave my aisle seat and make a B-line for the tunnel out to the concourse to catch the ball. One half inning later, I had my long awaited ball!
With LK down by a run with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th, and with ducks on the soon to be pond, the rain came. Then it poured and the poor grounds crew had waited far too long to deploy the tarp. The tarp was abandoned covering roughly 1/3 of the infield.
Game suspended, no one was playing a game on that field for a while.

A Augusta GreenJackets (Giants)
Today we took a little trip up to Augusta, GA to see the Single A affiliate for the San Francisco Giants, the Augusta GreenJackets. The Green Jacket commited 4 errors, and maybe the old lady that served the team peach rasberry cobbler before the game. the GreenJackets are managed by ex Major Leaguer Roberto Kelly. This is a blue collar baseball town, they gave out free loaves of bread after the game. Greenville lost 6-2 to the Columbus Catfish, but it was fun anyway. and Mary Ruth is now 23 weeks along!

Today we took a little trip up to Greenville, SC to see the Single A affiliate for the Boston Red Sox, the Greenville Drive. Gabe Kapler, of Red Sox World Series Lore, is the manager of the Drive
One of the best things about minor league baseball is how cheap it is to go to a game.
Greenville lost 9-8, but it was fun anyway. and Mary Ruth is now 22 weeks along! The baby is getting big!
